Position Summary
This position provides hands-on exposure to the full lifecycle of mortgage lending. The intern will assist multiple teams within the mortgage department, gaining valuable insight into real-world mortgage operations while supporting daily tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in financial services, banking, or real estate finance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with file setup, document collection, and organization
- Help manage borrower communications and follow-ups
- Review loan files for completeness
- Assist with gathering and tracking required documentation
- Observe underwriting workflows and guidelines
- Support pre-review steps and file preparation
- Assist in preparing closing documentation
- Support coordination of loan closings and funding activities
- Help audit completed loan files for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with document tracking and delivery
- Support file reviews to ensure regulatory and internal compliance
- Assist with quality control checklists and documentation
- Observe rate lock and pricing processes
- Assist with appraisal ordering and tracking
Skills & Qualifications
- Students enrolled at least part-time in a bachelor’s or master’s program at Texas Tech University or Lubbock Christian University.
- Preferred 3.0+ GPA and junior/senior undergraduate standing
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work in three-hour blocks or longer and have transportation to/from the credit union.
